APPEARANCE

"But the devil whispered lies I believed"

The Truth has a dramatic build, tall and lanky with an elegant curve to his back and a proud nose marked with a scar. The tom's large ears lead into his angular face and intense grass-green eyes. His pelt is a rich burnt sienna with a splash of white on his throat, and his paler toes are armed with unusually long claws. The oriental smells distinctly of the sweet grasses of the moor and smoke, and his gait is borderline regal with its grace. As his name implies, he is a gifted fighter who relies on his swift speed and powerful attacks on the battlefield. The Truth is not an opponent that you'd like to meet there, though he does have his weaknesses in being overpowered. The rogue's emotions are volatile, ever changing like the wind, and his tendency to drop a mood can be alarming. Throughout every shift in mood, his sharp wit and clever ways are carried on as an undercurrent in every motion.

He recently has been severely burned, taking out one of his eyes and claiming an ear. He's got touches of gray at his muzzle now, early signs of stress.

HISTORY

"And Heaven knows how hard I tried,"

In a past he rarely likes to discuss, Oakstar was generally assumed to be female at birth. Nearly the spitting image of his mother Weaselsong, he was named after her, and cherished for the same reasons. All was well for the first moon or so, with an adoring family and bright sisters at his side. When Weaselkit learned to speak properly, and form his own thoughts just the same, the truth came out. He was not a she-cat. Certain of this fact to his very core, he proclaimed it loud and clear and corrected those who thought otherwise. This upset his mother greatly, seeding hatred for the young cat at the thought that she lost her perfect, lookalike daughter. Beepelt was devastated that his mate was unwelcoming to their new and only son, often turning to freshly joined Bearheart for comfort. Soon, Weaselsong had enough. She ensured that little Weaselkit became Roachkit instead, took her two daughters and fled the clan leaving her mate and young son behind. Bearheart, though not Roachkit’s blood family, took care of him with Beepelt and gave him the nickname cub, refusing to use the harsh name he was given. Beepelt and Bearheart became infatuated with each other. Cub, or Roachkit, did not understand why his mother left. However, upon the day of his apprenticeship, he was announced instead as Oakpaw.

Oakpaw approached his dad, wondering why he had his son's name changed again. Beepelt explained his mother's cruelty, her feelings, and why she left. He wanted Oakpaw to have a strong name, to always remind him of his own strength. Though, the kind gesture would not be appreciated until far later on. Oakpaw was a furious, acid filled apprentice. He spat at anyone that would look his way, angry at himself and those around him. A skinny, pathetic thing, he did not do well in the fights he picked. Though he managed to find a friend who tolerated him for once. Slugpaw was, and still is, his best friend. The tabby was a daredevil, an adventurous spirit, who let Oakpaw walk all over him until he crossed the line. Giving Oakpaw the distinctive scar over his nose, their friendship strangely improved from there. Watching Slugpaw get into trouble was part of a few formative experiences. Though his anger did not fully subside, his flame was lessened. Controlled for a little bit now.

As a young warrior, he was given the name Oakblaze for his fierce fighting ability, vibrant to say the least personality, and scalding attitude. Oakblaze remained bitter for a good couple of moons after he became a warrior, but the new freedoms eased his mind somewhat. After ignoring his father for some time, the two reconciled, and Oakblaze did mellow out some. Such behavior earned him his first apprentice, Runningpaw, who laughed in the face of danger and then ran when it got serious. She was an adventure in herself, and Oakblaze learned a lot from controlling her, teaching her, and guiding her. This time in his life shaped his adoration for his clanmates, his love for his apprentices.

Then, Oakblaze managed to be picked as deputy of Windclan. Pride was shining through him, a new nobility reached from the ashes of his sour past. Feeling like he's earned the respect of the clan, he was riding high for a while. Lovers slipped through his life around this time, but few stayed.

During the massive flood, many things changed. Oakblaze discovered a part of him that he didn't realize, a cold, calculating urge to survive that counted bodies instead of names and faces. This served will to carry him through the events that took place, and even eased his pain upon discovering his drowned father's body in a twoleg building. He played a role in scouting with Orchidstar and Rowanstar, searching buildings and investigating just what the two legs were doing. War, as it happens, is a language spoken in multiple species. Upon moving to the new territories, Orchidstar and Oakblaze fell in love. After some time of peace, an incident with Cloverberry pushed them further apart, and finally when a Orchidstar was crippled, they had to part.

Oakblaze rose to power as leader of Windclan, faced with issues that he's not sure how to deal with. He wants to do what's best for his clan, but the public opinion is shifting after a decision he made caused the nursery to collapse in a Starclan sent blizzard and kill many kits and queens alike.

As his leadership progressed, the world seem to dissolve into chaos for Oakstar. A series of murders plagued his clan, leaving only the scent of garlic and horribly maimed bodies. The clan lost Morningpaw, Grasswhisker, and Lightwalker. When the final victim was found, Wide-eyes, things came to a breaking point. The suspects began being laid out. Gumtooth, Mudfur, Mistwhite, and Lionstride. In a twist turn of events, Lightningberry confessed to the murders, expressing that he’d do it again. The clan was upon him in a heartbeat, and Oakstar personally tore his throat out in front of his subjects. However, Lightningberry, with his dying breaths, told that he never hurt a cat. He only did this to punish Oakstar for allowing his parents to die to foxes so long ago, making him into the real murderer.

Something broke inside Oakstar here, walking away shattered and blood stained.

The next day, he woke up and had lost a life. This led to a frantic trial. Mistwhite was proved innocent, and Mudfur was as well. Lionstride and Gumtooth were the only ones left. Gumtooth came close to being executed, but eventually gave in and began tearfully begging for his life. This left Lionstride, who had no real alibi to fall back on. Lionstride was the real murderer, doing the killings to put the clan to the test, and fled before the clan could get their hands on him.

After all this, Oakstar could never really recover from these events. He carried the weight of the murders on his shoulders. Soon, it seemed Starclan took punishment into their own hands. Windclan burned down. All the ranks were ‘wiped out’, or rather, left during the fire when their clanmates turned up dead.

Injured, Oakstar was patched up by Furzeheart out in the territory. Once he was on his way to recovery, he rejected Starclan and the clans. Refusing to return to Windclan, Oakstar renamed himself The Truth. He only believes in blood and flesh now, and when a cat dies they only rot away. He refers to these as his Truths, and believes himself a prophet.

The Truth is currently gaining a small, faithful few. It won’t be long now before he begins asking for sacrifices.

PERSONALITY

"See I was born a restless child, and I could hear the world outside calling me"

The Truth harbors a flame in him, one that consumes him at times and burns low at others. He's notoriously temperamental, vain, and utterly theatric. He's taken on a mean streak recently, acting heartless with unpredictable tendencies. The Truth cares greatly about his appearance and presence, and considers himself very regal even if his crown is tarnished. There is no putting a cage on his urge for freedom and love of activity, even if he's grim most often these days. He used to have a good heart. With his recent changes, it's more likely that he's a paranoid, inherently bad soul masquerading as a good man.
